Last updated: March 12, 2020 18:36

Are the UV-C lights LEDs or tube type?

They are tube type and hidden inside the CleanseBot. They do have some protection and should not pose any problems when traveling.

Last updated: March 12, 2020 18:36

Is UVC light dangerous?

According to studies, disinfecting lamps should not cause cancer or issue, as you will not be under prolonged skin exposure and much UVC light is absorbed by our dead skin cells. However, as with any UVC or other types of rays, users should always be careful and not use it for a prolonged period on the skin or ever point it at their eyes. Addition, while Handheld Mode, it will sense your hand and will ONLY shine the downward-facing UVC lamps, you won’t have UVC on your hand or toward your eyes.

How strong is the power bank output?

The output power is 1A and it will take around 2 hours to charge an iPhone X with that amount of power.

Last updated: March 12, 2020 18:36

Are the batteries replaceable?

The battery is about 800 - 900 charge cycles and it is not currently replaceable but you can send it back to us to replace it for a fee when it burns out. After many inquiries, we are planning to see if adding a replaceable battery is possible at this stage of production. If not, that will be a feature in the next version of CleanseBot in the future.

Is the CleanseBot TSA compliant for carry on luggage?

There are currently no TSA or airport security restrictions against UVC lamps in carrying on luggage. And because it has a 3700 mAh lithium battery, it is ONLY allowed in carry-on, as lithium batteries are not allowed in checked baggage.

Last updated: March 12, 2020 18:36

Is there any risk of UV exposure or harm when in Handheld Mode?

No, short exposure has very little risk, and the CleanseBot has sensors and ONLY uses the downward-facing UV-C lamps when in handheld mode, so it will not be on your skin. Also, there have been studies showing small amounts of UV-C will not harm human skin, because layers of your own dead skin cells protect you.

Are there any blankets too heavy for CleanseBot to go under?

We tested the CleanseBot under many different blanket types and weights and it has never had any issues! The shape and size were designed to glide right under any blanket and fit into tightly-folded corners.

Last updated: March 12, 2020 18:36

Does the Cleansebot get stuck under the covers? If the bed is in a little bit of disarray, will it still be able to move around?

We created a new patent-pending wheel technology made for climbing over sheets and blankets and tested the CleanseBot on a variety of unmade, messy and other beds in disarray. If it encounters a big lump, it will pull back and move in another direction around the lump and will keep on moving!

Last updated: March 12, 2020 18:36

Is there any protection against overheating?

We have overheating protection built into the CleanseBot and there are sensors for the heat output and short circuit, so it will not burn or overheat.

Last updated: March 12, 2020 18:36

What is the price and turnaround time for replacing UV-C lamps that burn out?

It will likely be less than $10 for the fee for replacing the individual lamps, and if one or two stop working earlier, the others will continue working. We plan to have the replacement turnaround be about 1 week.

Last updated: March 12, 2020 18:36

Are the UV-C lights LEDs or tube type?

They are tube type and hidden inside the CleanseBot. They do have some protection and should not pose any problems when traveling. After doing testing and seeing results, we found the tube type UV-C lights to be stronger than LEDs, as well as being a wider coverage for sanitizing.

UV-C light can be used to kill mold. We have not performed these tests yet, but here is a resource that explains it: https://www.hunker.com/12250750/how-to-kill-mold-spores-with-uv-light

Last updated: March 12, 2020 18:36

How long does the UV stay in one area?

The CleanseBot moves continuously giving cumulative exposure in under blanket mode, but in Handheld mode, you can hold it over any surface for as long as you want. It takes only a couple seconds of exposure to inactivate germ cells, and up to 30 seconds of exposure to completely eradicate them.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
